'Albert Monteys: més enllà dels límits de la realitat' Exhibition
4 November 2026 – 5 January 2027 · 09:30
Biblioteca Ignasi Iglésias - Can Fabra, Sant Andreu, Sant Andreu
Albert Monteys is one of the most important comic artists in our country, yet even today many people know him mainly for his humorous work in El Jueves. As well as paying him a well-deserved tribute, this exhibition sets out to highlight the constant presence of fantasy genres throughout his entire body of work. From Calavera lunar to his adaptation of Slaughterhouse-Five, and including his more realistic works, we will discover how time becomes a liquid substance that allows him to converse with himself; how the dream logic of Winsor McCay bursts into the most prosaic depictions of everyday life; and how monsters live alongside ordinary people. Above all, we will see how Monteys combines the devices of fantasy and humour to build a lucid, critical and deeply original view of reality. Curator: Sergi Viciana. In collaboration with Biblioteques de Barcelona.
