'Àngel Jové. D'intactu' Exhibition

The first major retrospective of Àngel Jové (Lleida, 1940 – Girona, 2023), presenting a significant part of his output in order to create a more intimate space around a figure who defined himself as an artist by avoiding the museum's institutional and normative frameworks. Considered one of the most enigmatic creators of the 1970s, Jové moved between arte povera, informalism and conceptualism. His multidisciplinary practice comprises works that move between image, poetry, words, matter and objects. His pieces offer a space of resistance through visual language and question the social regimes of Western societies. Jové is also recognised for having created, together with Antoni Llena, Sílvia Gubern and Jordi Galí, Spain's first audiovisual artwork, Primera muerte (1969). The exhibition is structured around a beating centre, mapping Jové's works in a linear yet anachronistic way as interrelated constellations that bring present, past and future into dialogue. Drawings, photographs, films, sculptures and endless series construct a unique universe, an interdisciplinary space that speaks of the smallest gesture, the fragility of being and the systems that oppress human existence.
