"Anggie Obin Quintet" Concert

She says she landed in Barcelona for love, even though she was building a career in the jazz mecca of New York after studying at the famous Berklee in Boston. Panamanian flautist Anggie Obin arrived in Catalonia and had to wait to make her mark because of the pandemic, but we now know what she is capable of. Estival d'Igualada recognised it, giving her carte blanche in its 2025 edition. That performance, recorded by Barcelona label Underpool, gave rise to the project she shares with one of her mentors, saxophonist Bill McHenry, as well as young drummer Estefania Chamorro from Cassà de la Selva, who likewise had her opportunity in Igualada a year earlier. With Toni Vaquer's poetry at the piano and the incomparable lyricism of bassist Masa Kamaguchi, Obin guarantees light and energy.
