'Anonymous Archive' Exhibition

Marta Fàbregas. Curated by Marc Vidal. The exhibition begins with a critical review of a social imaginary constructed through a patriarchal gaze. Through archival photographs, transferred images, incomplete fragments and latent presences, artist Marta Fàbregas questions how many anonymous women have been represented —or erased— over time. The images appear as open windows onto a frozen memory. Here, however, memory is not contemplated passively: it is questioned, scratched, displaced and brought to the surface again. The act of transfer, the breaking of the image and its material fragility become tools for critical thought. What seemed stable, domestic or innocent reveals a deep structure of silences, assigned roles and symbolic violence. The exhibition offers a feminist rereading of inherited images and the social imaginaries that have defined what a woman was supposed to be, the place she was supposed to occupy and the tasks she was expected to sustain. In this process, the act of looking becomes an act of recovering bodies, voices, gestures and possibilities excluded from the official narrative.
