"Antonio Serrano - Kaele Jiménez" Concert

1 December 2026 · 20:30

Fundació Conservatori del Liceu, el Raval, Ciutat Vella

Harmonica player Antonio Serrano is undoubtedly one of today's most distinctive musicians, as recognised last year by the Premio Nacional de Música, whose jury praised “the excellence and originality” of his 2024 recordings (Flamenco Messengers and Porter & Gershwin) and also stressed that Serrano “has taken the chromatic harmonica to levels of creativity and projection far beyond the ordinary”. After appearing last year at Palau de la Música Catalana as Tomatito's special guest, the Madrid musician now returns to the festival with the project he co-leads with pianist Kaele Jiménez. The result is the unique album Jazz Caló, establishing a rich dialogue that reinterprets flamenco tradition through jazz's creative freedom. Outstanding versions of standards such as Giant Steps and Take the A Train sit alongside folk heritage (La Tarara) and memories of Paco de Lucía (Río ancho) in a magnificent proposal that reportedly reaches extraordinary heights live. Antonio Serrano, harmonica. Kaele Jiménez, piano and keyboards. Josué Ronkio, electric bass. Marc Miralta, drums.

Part of the programme: 58th Barcelona International Jazz Festival. 58è Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona: 48 activities in Barcelona, from September 29 to December 23.
