'Arp Frique and the Perpetual Singers' Concert
23 September 2026 · 00:00
Avinguda de la Catedral, el Barri Gòtic, Ciutat Vella
Show title: The Gospel Of Jesamy. Gospel, funk – Netherlands. Arp Frique & The Perpetual Singers arrive in Barcelona with The Gospel Of Jesamy, a celebration of gospel funk born from an intimate and luminous impulse: the birth of Jesamy, daughter of the Amsterdam-based multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. The new album is a journey in which Arp Frique channels his love of organic music and funk, with dark synthesisers, effervescent bass lines and spiralling guitars connecting the legacy of P-funk —the sound of George Clinton and the Parliament/Funkadelic collective— with a contemporary perspective. He is joined by notable voices including Dennis Bovell, Muriel Blijd and Mariseya, a regular collaborator on the project. Live, Arp Frique surrounds himself with a cosmic gospel-funk family, including Los Angeles-born singer Rocq-E Harrell. Danceable, expansive and life-affirming music asserting a simple, universal idea: we all need love. On Wednesday 23 September, at avinguda de la Catedral, as part of the Música Mercè programme, the group will perform a concert promising to turn the night into a ceremony of rhythm, voices and shared energy.
Part of the programme: Mercè 2026. 103 activities in Barcelona, from September 23 to September 27. All free.
