'Balkan Music Combo' Workshop

Teacher: Orlando Cialli. A theoretical and practical journey through Balkan music, where the modal tradition of makam and European tonality meet. Through analysis, listening and performance, we will explore irregular rhythms, ornamentation and improvisation techniques characteristic of this rich musical tradition. An intermediate level of music is required. The group will take part in the Concerts al pati series as part of the Sabor Trubaca concert (19 June). Students must bring their instrument.
