'Barcelona: City and Theatre' Exhibition

Theatre and Barcelona are the protagonists of this exhibition. The period it covers shows how the trajectory of theatrical spaces in Barcelona moves in parallel with the history of the city. The perspectives it opens highlight an urban and architectural heritage and a stage that looks at and represents the city. City, architecture, stage space and society are brought together in the exhibition. Theatres, theatre and Barcelona are the protagonists of this exhibition. The period it covers shows how the trajectory of theatrical space in Barcelona moves in parallel with the history of the city. In this way, it reveals the role the performing arts play in anticipating and even promoting urban growth and transformation. A sequence of maps structures this journey through time into periods in which theatrical activity and the city converge. From La Rambla to passeig de Gràcia, and from there to avinguda del Paral·lel and the towns of the Barcelona plain, time becomes space.
