"Bestiari" Concert

A proposal to rediscover a world full of meaning, sacred nature and unlimited imagination. Bestiari, a musical album based on new creations by Benet Casablancas, Ferran Cuixent, Raquel García-Tomàs, Albert Guinovart, Ramon Humet, Joan Magrané, Marian Màrquez, Marc Migó, Hèctor Parra and Fabià Santcovsky. Medieval bestiaries are far more than simple catalogues of fantastic creatures and real animals. These works, combining scientific knowledge, religious symbolism and boundless imagination, offer us a privileged window onto the medieval mindset, in which nature and the spiritual world mingle in fascinating harmony. Bestiaries are compilations describing real creatures such as the lion, elephant and deer alongside marvellous beings such as the griffin, basilisk and phoenix. Yet beyond the anatomy or behaviour of these animals, their main purpose was to reveal the divine truths hidden within creation. Each animal had a symbolic and moral meaning. This allegorical character of bestiaries not only presented a cohesive vision of the world, but also represented an attempt to order reality through a narrative charged with meaning.
