Teacher: Alberto García Nahun. The media are not windows onto reality. They are institutions with owners, advertisers and political pressures that decide what does and does not exist in public space. Every headline is a choice, and every silence is too. Who decides what counts as news? How are media outlets funded? What criteria are used when choosing information sources? We will review the different media around us, understand the power behind the news and learn to develop a new perspective for reading current affairs.
