"Brigitte Calls Me Baby" Concert

If you hear a Brigitte Calls Me Baby song in passing, you may short-circuit for a moment: at what point did Morrissey replace Brandon Flowers as the singer of The Killers? It is an auditory hallucination, but it makes complete sense. The music of this Chicago quintet, led by Wes Leavins and his distinctive voice, holds all the theatricality and well-judged intensity of that improbable mix. Even Moz himself seems to recognise it: they were the support band at several of his shows last spring. In cynical times, Brigitte Calls Me Baby are a miracle: a band unafraid to lay out emotion unfiltered. Their songs, rounded off with bigger-than-life choruses, work as catalysts for feeling. Their two albums so far, The Future is Our Way Out and the recently released Irreversible, never shy away from a passion for pop-rock.
