"Canta Gran: Espardenya blanca al peu" Concert

Choirs of older people from Catalonia. Espardenya blanca al peu is a show based on traditional songs from the Països Catalans, performed by choir, soloist and cobla. The repertoire combines well-known songs such as La Balanguera and Baixant de la font del gat with narrative pieces such as El testament d'Amèlia and La dama d'Aragó, as well as other songs from the traditional repertoire. Throughout the programme, rhythms linked to popular tradition appear, including the habanera, sardana and Catalan rumba, associated with collective singing, dance and the festive character of this repertoire. The show is designed so that the choir has an active and central role, in keeping with the spirit of the Cant Gran project and its aim of bringing this repertoire to different towns across the territory.
