"Cardiovascular Health. A Question of Gender" Science Talk
7 October 2026 · 18:00
Centre Cívic Guinardó, el Guinardó, Horta-Guinardó
Led by Teresa Padró, coordinator of the research group on biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases at IR Sant Pau. The biological processes associated with cardiovascular health are not the same in men and women. It is important to take these differences into account, as there are specific conditions that predispose women to greater cardiovascular risk. In fact, cardiovascular diseases are currently the leading cause of death among women. Better understanding these diseases and their causes will help reduce their impact on women and eliminate the sex and gender bias that leads us to think of cardiovascular disease as primarily a men's issue.
