'Carola Ortiz' Concert

27 September 2026 · 19:00

La Plaça de Sant Jaume, el Barri Gòtic, Ciutat Vella

Show title: Havaneres i cançons de mar. Habaneras and sea songs. Barcelona. Voice, clarinet, guitar... Prepare for an intimate and evocative evening devoted to habaneras and songs of the sea. Mercè Música presents the premiere of the new show by singer and clarinettist Carola Ortiz and guitarist Bartolomeo Barenghi. Together they bring a contemporary and sensitive perspective to this music, revisiting traditional melodies that form part of the Mediterranean collective memory. Delicate arrangements and a nuanced performance combine Ortiz's warm, expressive voice with Berenghi's elegance and musical rapport. Popular habaneras, tavern songs and pieces inspired by the sea will be heard, as well as musical forms that travelled back and forth across the Atlantic and evoke the cultural and emotional links that have moved between Europe and the Americas for generations. Jazz sonorities, singer-songwriter music, roots music and folk sounds come together in a concert rocked by the waves, inspired by the power of seafaring stories and as moving as a musical journey between the two shores of the Atlantic Ocean. This concert is a special production for La Mercè 2026.

Part of the programme: Mercè 2026. 103 activities in Barcelona, from September 23 to September 27. All free.
