The stage of the Gran Teatre del Liceu hosts the concert commemorating fifty years of Teatre Lliure. Celebrating fifty years of Teatre Lliure means celebrating a way of understanding culture as a public service, a meeting place and a space of freedom. The stage of the Gran Teatre del Liceu hosts the commemorative concert for the fiftieth anniversary of Teatre Lliure, a celebration that goes beyond the anniversary itself to become an act of living memory and collective projection. Respecting the founding values of Teatre Lliure, the spirit of the former Orquestra del Teatre Lliure and the programmes it performed are called back to life. Conducted by Josep Pons, founder of that much-missed ensemble, this concert symbolises the meeting of two institutions that have understood art as a space of rigour, risk and constant openness. From the beginning, Teatre Lliure has embodied an open and plural spirit, faithful to the thinking of Fabià Puigserver, who conceived the stage as shared territory, free from aesthetic hierarchies and attentive to every form of creation.
