'Cinema and Painting: From Canvas to Screen' Workshop *NEW*

1 October 2026 – 3 December 2026 · 11:00

Centre Cívic Urgell, la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Eixample

Cinema, the so-called "seventh art", was long considered an art synthesising the traditional arts. Painting was one of its most obvious influences, both in cinematography and in set design or the use of colour. Cinema was regarded as the miracle of "painting in motion", and many filmmakers took inspiration from paintings when composing their images. In this course, we will analyse the affinities and differences between the visual arts and cinema. We will also examine how certain painters have contributed to the aesthetic universe of major film directors. A fascinating journey awaits us through the different, though often complementary, worlds of the visual arts and cinema. Teacher: Enric Ros.
