Conference and Round-table Series 'Standing Up to Ageism'

This project promoted in the les Corts district invites reflection and debate on age-based discrimination. Through diverse voices and critical perspectives, it seeks to challenge stereotypes, promote intergenerational dialogue and encourage a fairer, more inclusive society for people of all ages. The centre's theatre group, Teatre de les Corts, will perform a 10-minute sketch before the round tables as an introduction. Programme. Tuesday 28 April at 17:30: Everyday ageism. Ageism in daily life: language, family, commercial, healthcare and institutional settings, among others. Talk by Lourdes Charles, social psychologist and president of the association SomSeniors. Tuesday 26 May at 17:30: Ageism and the media. The media in their dual role of creating stereotypes and committing to inform, identify and combat ageist practices. Talk by José Ángel Martos, journalist and CEO of publishing house Diëresis. Tuesday 16 June at 17:30: Ageism and older women. Double discrimination and a double opportunity. Talk by writer Gemma Lienas. Tuesday 29 September at 17:30: Ageism and abuse. The most hidden and dramatic practice of ageism. Talk by Manel Domínguez, journalist and university lecturer.…
