'Contemporary Art and Galleries in Barcelona' Cultural Workshop *NEW*

Teacher: Cèlia Leiva. We will delve into contemporary art from the 1990s to the present, focusing on Barcelona's art scene. We will combine classroom sessions with visits to galleries and art spaces around the city to approach some of the practices, languages and debates that have shaped art in recent decades. We will work with key concepts for understanding recent contemporary art —installation, performance, new forms of painting, video, relationships between art and politics…— and reflect on the role of institutions, the current situation of galleries and the art market.
