By the Comissió Memòria i Gènere. When "witches" become the stuff of legend, part of an imaginary world, the real, historical witch — the peasant, the working woman, the enslaved woman, tortured and killed — becomes invisible. She is erased from history and even ridiculed. Fear of "the other", of those whose customs differ, led to the physical disappearance of thousands of women condemned for witchcraft. No booking required.
