'Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu' Concert

24 September 2026 · 21:00

Plaça Major de Nou Barris, la Guineueta, Nou Barris

Show title: Carmina Burana by Carl Orff - Version for choir, two pianos and percussion (1956). Choral music – Barcelona. Cor del Gran Teatre del Liceu, Grup de Percussió del Gran Teatre del Liceu and children's choir Amics de la Unió, accompanied by two pianos, invite Barcelona audiences to rediscover Carmina Burana from a more direct, human and vibrant perspective that remains equally powerful and fascinating. Carmina Burana is a staged cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1936, based on a collection of medieval poems. The texts, written in Latin, Middle High German and Occitan, speak of fortune, love, desire and the pleasure of living. You have probably heard more than once the passage that opens and closes the work, the chorus O Fortuna, a powerful exaltation of fate that has become a symbol of 20th-century choral music. The version heard in Nou Barris places the power of the voices and intense rhythm in the foreground, retaining its energy and spectacle while offering unusual intimacy.
