'Deir el-Medina: The Village of the Pharaoh’s Artists' Cultural Workshop *NEW*

30 September 2026 – 2 December 2026 · 16:30

Centre Cultural La Casa Elizalde, la Dreta de l'Eixample, Eixample

Teacher: Susana Alegre. We will discover one of the most distinctive settlements of ancient Egypt, Deir el-Medina, where the artists who created the Valley of the Kings and the Valley of the Queens lived. We will learn about the characteristics of the site, the types of houses people lived in, customs, places of worship, its judicial system and the necropolis, with some of the most beautiful and richly decorated tombs in ancient Egypt. As a microcosm, the village allows us to understand Egyptian society, daily life, religion, the organisation of work and the artists' creative process, among other aspects.
