"Do We Choose What We Read? Literature, the Market and Marginalised Voices" Conference

Do we really choose what we read, or are our tastes shaped by what the market and institutions decide to make visible? This round table in dialogue format offers an accessible and participatory conversation about how reading habits are constructed and which voices are legitimised as “universal”. Through exchange with the audience, it will open a reflection on canon, criticism and the publishing market. The session will culminate in a collective reading of texts from Mujeres del Maíz, a shared-writing initiative by migrant and racialised women that expands the boundaries of what is considered literary.
