Educational Concert "Blues in Schools: Discovering the Blues"

Performed by Soul River Quartet. In collaboration with Societat de Blues de Barcelona. Activity aimed at Year 4 primary-school pupils from neighbourhood schools. In the educational concert Discovering the Blues, we approach the genre through three areas: its history, with an outline of where it emerged —its roots, evolution, most representative artists, the styles it has most influenced, etc.—; its musical structure —a brief introduction to phrasing, lyrics, rhythm and harmonic structure…—; and its sound: what makes it recognisable after only a few notes, as well as the instrumental and vocal techniques used and developed by blues performers.
