Biblioteca Ignasi Iglésias - Can Fabra, Sant Andreu, Sant Andreu

Càlams i vinyetes. Autores mediterrànies en moviment is an exhibition bringing together the work of ten women illustrators from various Arab countries who use comics as an artistic language to describe and question the social and cultural reality around them. Through their work, the artists make visible the human-rights violations affecting girls and women in their contexts while also showing strategies of resistance, creativity and transformation. The comics address subjects such as armed conflicts and exile, censorship and freedom of expression, multiple identities, the body and sexuality, labour exploitation and migration. Combining personal and collective narratives, humour, symbolism and denunciation, graphic language becomes a tool for social transformation and for asserting the role of women as political and cultural subjects. Exhibition within the programme Biblioteques Sense Fronteres ACCD i Servei de Biblioteques del Departament de Cultura de la Generalitat de Catalunya.
