Exhibition "Clonc Plac Blampf!” by Mark Malarko

While working in Barcelona, Malarko came across a pile of discarded comics near what turned out to be the former Bruguera publishing house. Drawn to their colour, rhythm and graphic intensity, he began translating fragments of these images into painting. The works are not direct reproductions but abstractions, echoes of forms, palettes and gestures carried over from the original material. Through this process, the imagery shifts and is reconfigured, moving from print to painting, from narrative to surface. In this way, Malarko reactivates fragments of a local visual culture, returning them to the space where they originated, not as preservation but as a way of moving them forward.
