Exhibition 'Kapwani Kiwanga. Changing States'

This is Kapwani Kiwanga's first major solo exhibition in Spain, focusing on her critical reading of architecture, space and structures of power, while reinforcing the international and interdisciplinary vocation characterising the Fundació's 50th-anniversary celebrations. Although Kiwanga was not selected specifically for an architectural connection, her work displays an internal architecture of exceptional precision and coherence. Her consistent and deeply structured practice engages organically with architecture: it investigates materiality, resource flows, exchange economies and the power structures organising territories and bodies. She has researched architectural designs and systems for the circulation of materials and, in recent years, broadened the paradigm towards transhuman temporalities such as geology, allowing spaces and systems to be understood on scales beyond human time.
