Exhibition 'L'assalt de la il·lusió'
18 March 2026 – 27 September 2026 · 11:00
Centre d'Arts Santa Mònica, el Raval, Ciutat Vella
L'assalt de la il·lusió presents a reading of art as a tool for producing illusions and deceptions and explores how, throughout its history, it has progressively shaped both our desires and what we understand as “reality”. The exhibition addresses concepts such as post-truth, power dynamics and the mechanisms hidden behind the hegemonic creation of fictions and illusions. Ultimately, it examines the techniques behind art's capacity to generate forms of deception that influence the way we perceive the world. These concepts are explored through a journey that immerses the audience in the sophistication and opacity of artistic techniques of deception concealing complex power relations. The journey accompanies a critical reflection on how the arts have historically played an important role in creating these techniques and asks whether today, in a world of deepfakes and artificial intelligence/creation, art's role should instead be precisely to reveal techniques built up over centuries.
Part of the programme: Estiu als Museus. 21 activities in Barcelona, from February 26 to September 30.
