Exhibition on Catalan Mythology

Catalan mythology is a rich source of stories and characters, although for many years it remained in the background, overshadowed by other mythologies such as Norse or Celtic traditions. Contemporary fantasy writers are in fact finding inspiration in orally transmitted stories from across Catalonia to write new tales and reinterpret this imaginary world. In the main exhibition of the fifth edition of Festival 42, you will find around fifteen of the most popular and deeply rooted characters from Catalan folklore, along with the features linking them to the broader literary landscape. From Joan de l'Os, which brings us close to American superhero fiction, to legends of the Serpent, reminiscent of Bola de Drac, and constellation swords connecting us with stories of the Cicle Artúric. All of this is presented through illustrations by Laia Baldevey, curator of the exhibition and an expert in bringing mythology to life through images.
