Exhibition on Catalan Mythology

Catalan mythology is a rich source of stories and characters, although for many years it remained in the background, overshadowed by other mythologies such as Norse and Celtic traditions. In fact, contemporary fantasy authors are finding inspiration in orally transmitted stories from across Catalonia to write new tales and reinterpret this imaginary world. The main exhibition of the fifth edition of Festival 42 features around fifteen of the most popular and deeply rooted characters from Catalan folklore, highlighting the characteristics that connect them with the broader literary world. From Joan de l'Os, which brings us close to American superhero fiction, to the legends of the Serpent, which recall Bola de Drac, and constellation swords that connect us with stories from the Cicle Artúric. All of this is presented through illustrations by Laia Baldevey, curator of the exhibition and an expert at translating mythology into images.
