Exhibition "Poquita sangre"

11 November 2026 – 31 December 2026 · 17:00

Centre Cívic Casa Golferichs, la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Eixample

Poquita sangre tells “stories of women who are experiencing or have experienced motherhood after the age of 40”. Through portraiture and personal testimony, it proposes a “collective narrative” of what is “misleadingly called late motherhood”. The artist stresses the importance of developing this project because Spain ranks among the European countries with the highest percentage of births to mothers over 40, while also being among the countries with the fewest births per year. The difficulties women face in reconciling motherhood with working and social life help explain this phenomenon. The burden of domestic responsibilities and insufficient family-support measures mean that many women perceive motherhood as an obstacle to their professional and economic lives. Photographs by Claudia Toledo. Opening and presentation: Wednesday 11 November at 19:00 at Casa Golferichs.
