Exhibition "The Fraternity of Metaphors" by Jean-Luc Godard
28 March 2026 – 4 October 2026 · 11:00
La Virreina Centre de la Imatge, el Raval, Ciutat Vella
The Jean-Luc Godard exhibition (Paris, 1930 – Rolle, Switzerland, 2022) at La Virreina Centre de la Imatge is the largest exhibition devoted to the filmmaker to date, making it a significant museum event both nationally and internationally. For the first time, it will also bring together unpublished materials, filming notebooks, recordings, photographs, paintings, personal books and more from the artist's archive. The exhibition has been produced with the cooperation of Godard's closest circle: his heirs, closest collaborators and several collectors of his visual artworks. Ten years after La Virreina's exhibition devoted to Alexander Kluge, this project turns to Godard. Together, the two projects trace an arc around the last two European auteur filmmakers while also framing a decade of work by the institution around film practices, from Barbara Hammer to Pedro Costa, Marguerite Duras to Sara Gómez, Chantal Akerman to Trinh T. Minh-ha. Curator: Manuel Asín.
