Family Workshop 'WHAT A FACE! What Would Your Romanesque Portrait Look Like?'

Can you imagine what your portrait would have looked like a thousand years ago? In this workshop we will explore the Romanesque galleries to discover the craft of painting. We will look closely at the faces: how they were drawn, what colours were used and how they were given shape and volume. Then, in the workshop, you will experiment with pigments, colours and the three-tone technique to create your own self-portrait in the Romanesque style. An activity to observe, experiment and create as a family while discovering what lies behind paintings from a thousand years ago. Recommended age: 7 to 12 years
