'Feminismes Fílmics: 1976 - 2026' Exhibition. Based on the Filmoteca de Catalunya Collection

9 July 2026 – 29 November 2026 · 10:00

Filmoteca de Catalunya, el Raval, Ciutat Vella

To mark the 50th anniversary of the Primeres Jornades Catalanes de la Dona, this exhibition reviews the influence of the feminist movement on cinema and video creation in the Catalan context, and how the movement's ideas, demands and actions have been reflected in audiovisual works by filmmakers, giving rise to a different way of thinking about, feeling and creating moving images. The exhibition presents nine newly created pieces in dialogue with the themes debated during those days: Work, Neighbourhoods, Family, Education, Media, Politics, Legislation, Rural Life and Sexuality. These pieces re-edit fragments of films, video-art works and television reports, all created by women filmmakers, produced between 1976 and the present and drawn mainly from the Filmoteca's own collection. The exhibition is also accompanied by a programme of screenings and activities featuring some of these filmmakers and feminist thinkers. Curated by Alexandra Laudo with advice from Marta Selva and Anna Solà and produced by the Filmoteca de Catalunya. Audiovisual compilations edited by Pilar Monsell.
