'Film Styles' Cultural Workshop

Teacher: Alexis Racionero. Cinema and audiovisual work are based on a series of styles that shape the type of film or series. Style represents an author's distinctive signature: their particular way of understanding the world and interpreting reality. This spring we will focus on cinema of the senses or sensory perception, as well as the style of fragmentation developed through narrative or editing. By viewing excerpts from series and films in class, we will carry out broad analyses, comparative exercises and some historical review. We will work with parts of the filmographies of Visconti, Greenaway, Wong Kar-Wai, Eisenstein, Aronofsky and Peckinpah, among others.
