"Frederico Heliodoro" Concert

Born on 2 September 1987 in Rio de Janeiro, Frederico Heliodoro spent his youth in Belo Horizonte, where he became an artist. After a few years in São Paulo, Heliodoro returned to Rio, where he now lives. He took part in Milton Nascimento's "A Última Sessão de Música" tour and has worked with Kurt Rosenwinkel, Pedro Martins, Louis Cole, Shin Sasakubo, Bala Desejo and Roberto Gatto as a bassist and/or guest artist. A multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer, Heliodoro began his career in 1999 in Belo Horizonte. He was twice honoured by BDMG Cultural – "Young Instrumentalist 2007" / "BDMG Instrumental 2009". He released his first album in 2011 and now has nine original projects in his catalogue, as well as notable productions for the local music scene of south-east Brazil, including Mahmundi, Gabriel Bruce, Affonsinho and Paulo Nazareth. He holds a degree in Music from the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He creates, performs and teaches music, and carries out extensive research into improvisation and its melodic accents. He has taught in Japan, Italy, Uruguay, the United States and Portugal.
