14 November 2026 · 19:00

Jamboree, el Barri Gòtic, Ciutat Vella

Gastón Joya double bass · Miguel "Wiwi" García piano · Frank Durán drums The New Cuban Trio offers an immersion in the world of Afro-Cuban jazz from a contemporary perspective. The repertoire combines original compositions by Gastón Joya with works by leading figures such as Mario Bauzá, Chico O'Farrill and Charles Mingus, together with new readings of Cuban classics: boleros, danzones, filin and son. Each concert is built on improvisation, dialogue between the musicians and the rhythmic richness of the Cuban tradition, offering a modern, elegant experience deeply connected to its roots. Gastón Joya is one of the most outstanding Cuban double bassists of his generation and a leading figure in Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz. He has worked with Chucho Valdés, Paquito D'Rivera, Joe Lovano, Sting and Buena Vista Social Club, performing at major international festivals and theatres. As a leader, composer and arranger, he has developed his own language uniting the Cuban tradition with contemporary jazz.
