Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món *Parc Montjuïc, el Poble-sec, Sants-Montjuïc
The Museu Etnològic i de Cultures del Món (MuEC) joins the commemoration of the centenary of Antoni Gaudí's death with an intervention in the permanent exhibition at its Montjuïc site, offering a fresh look at his family and craft origins. Starting from his family's link with the old trade of coppersmithing, the intervention explores how knowledge of metalwork —working copper and iron— influenced the way he understood architecture, space and matter. The installation highlights Gaudí as a creator who, before being an architect, was a craftsman: a man deeply connected with manual tradition and the wisdom of the trades. The exhibition invites visitors to rediscover Gaudí from a perspective forged in material practice, championing the value of know-how, the passing on of knowledge and the creativity that comes from craft practice. Through pieces from the museum's ethnographic collection, documents and visual resources, the exhibition opens up a new reading of the link between art, technique and identity, building bridges between popular culture and artistic genius.
