Òpera Popular de Barcelona: "Our Carmen is the chronicle of a homicide, of the violent murder of a woman. Stolen from the imagery of Luis Buñuel, the mise-en-scène draws on the sour sherry of the tablaos of the Ramblas and on the fragrance of oranges and sea that carries the bitter aftertaste of the absinthe of Barcelona's brothels, a port of smuggling and of slaves to an age-old poverty that grew even more intense during the dictatorship of General Franco.".
