'Grans converses. Fosses comunes: Trauma i reparació col·lectiva' Conference

1 October 2026 · 18:00

Centre Cívic Casa Golferichs, la Nova Esquerra de l'Eixample, Eixample

The session addresses processes of research, identification and restoration of victims' memory, as well as the psychosocial impact of trauma on individuals and the societies that inherit it. We will discuss the social and personal consequences of political violence through the legacy and experience of mass graves. The conversation will take an interdisciplinary approach linking forensic science and psychology. From these perspectives, questions will be raised around reparation, justice and democratic-memory policies: how do we confront the legacy of violence? What processes allow hidden stories to emerge? What role do science and mental health play in constructing collective memory? Participants include Assumpció Malgosa, Professor of Physical Anthropology at UAB and an expert in the scientific study of human remains; Anna Miñarro, clinical psychologist and one of the authors of the book Trauma i transició; and journalist Teresa Turiera, who will moderate the conversation.

Part of the programme: Polèmik Series - 'Pensar contra l'oblit'. Cicle Polèmik - 'Pensar contra l'oblit: 8 activities in Barcelona, from September 30 to October 2. All free.
