"Indian Embroidery - Kutch" Workshop

No previous embroidery knowledge is required. A workshop for beginners in traditional Indian embroidery, or for continuing if you already have some experience. We will learn the stitches, designs and compositions used in Kutch and Ahir embroidery. It originated among nomadic peoples who migrated from Gujarat. This embroidery features geometric shapes, floral motifs, animals and birds characteristic of desert cultures, and also incorporates small mirrors and beads. Materials for the first day: basic sewing kit (thread, scissors, rulers, pins and marker, embroidery hoop). Participants are advised not to buy them until the workshop is confirmed. Materials fee: €10 (includes printed tutorials, needles, threads and fabrics for sample embroidery). Led by Misako Mimoko.
