"Introduction to Dancehall" Workshop *NEW*

A beginner-level workshop introducing Dancehall from a feminist perspective focused on self-esteem and bodily expression. Dancehall is a dance and culture with Jamaican roots that has historically provided a space where women have asserted their freedom through sensuality and by breaking taboos around sexuality. Throughout the sessions we will work on basic technique and choreography to learn to inhabit our own bodies with confidence and power. The aim is to create a trusting space where movement becomes a tool for personal empowerment and reconnection with a culture of resistance and female celebration. No previous experience is required.
