'Introduction to Japanese Watercolour' Workshop *NEW*

5 October 2026 – 14 December 2026 · 10:00

Centre Cívic La Sagrera La Barraca, la Sagrera, Sant Andreu

Professional: Eriko Fukuda. Notes: recommended materials: standard or Japanese watercolour (Gansai), brushes Nos. 1, 4 and 8, and a watercolour paper pad. Participants will learn to distinguish the differences between Western watercolour and Japanese painting, becoming familiar with the aesthetic and technical principles of this pictorial tradition. Basic Japanese watercolour techniques will be introduced, exploring transparency, gradations and areas of colour created by the interaction between water and Japanese gansai watercolours. By observing works by traditional and contemporary Japanese artists, participants will analyse different styles and approaches to Japanese painting. These references will inspire each participant to develop a personal work, applying the techniques learned and exploring their own creative expression. The workshop is aimed at people who want to get started with watercolour painting or discover the distinctive features of Japanese watercolour, with no previous experience required.
