Introductory course on the history of Spanish ceramics

13 October 2026 – 28 November 2026 · 16:30

Disseny Hub Barcelona, el Parc i la Llacuna del Poblenou, Sant Martí

This course sets out to explore the study of ceramics from its technical, technological and material side: learning the origin of the materials and pigments that make it up, and also of the artistic, cultural and social currents that have shaped its final form throughout history. It is a theoretical and practical course structured in eight sessions, two guided visits to museums related to the subject and one visit to a workshop. It combines knowledge of techniques and materials with other aspects important to the study of ceramics, such as its study through compendia of ceramic history and other disciplines such as archaeology or analytical methods, as well as forays into related areas such as restoration, documentation and the research of ceramic materials. The course is aimed at: professionals and students of Archaeology, History, Art History, Restoration, archivists, and in general anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of ceramics. The course, organised in collaboration with the Associació Catalana de Ceràmica, features qualified specialists in each of the subjects covered.
