'Joan Miró. Cercles' Exhibition

This new presentation, curated by Teresa Montaner and Marta Ricart, is based on the inseparable pairing of artwork and space that structures the route and gives meaning to each room. The project is inspired by a working folder Miró created between the second half of the 1950s and the early 1960s, preserved in the valuable archive of drawings the artist donated to the Fundació. In those documents, which reflect on space and time as axes of his practice, lies the idea of a new way of relating people to art. The new arrangement takes up this intuition and brings it into the present: the exhibition will foster an experience built on the multiple relationships between the works, the space and the people. In this renewed route, Sert's architecture plays an essential role. Artist and architect had already worked side by side to conceive specific spaces for specific works, and that logic is once again key: the building determines rhythms, perspectives and thresholds that activate the gaze. Jardí dels Xiprers will be opened to the public, strengthening the dialogue between interior and exterior so that the space can breathe and the works can connect with their surroundings and the light…
