'Journey through Time at the Drassanes Reials de Barcelona' Exhibition
17 July 2026 – 14 March 2027 · 10:00
Museu Marítim de Barcelona, el Raval, Ciutat Vella
In 2026 Barcelona has been named World Capital of Architecture. As part of this event, this exhibition recalls the origins and history of one of the city's most emblematic buildings. The Drassanes Reials are internationally recognised for their monumentality and excellent state of preservation, and in 1976 they were declared a National Historic-Artistic Monument. Their origins date back to the 13th century, during the reign of Pere el Gran. Over subsequent centuries they were expanded and altered until reaching the appearance we know today. The exhibition traces the different periods and uses of the complex, considered the largest and most complete surviving medieval shipyards in the world and a unique example of civil Gothic architecture.
