"Kurt Rosenwinkel" Concert
5 November 2026 · 20:30
Fundació Conservatori del Liceu, el Raval, Ciutat Vella
Guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel is undoubtedly one of today's jazz heroes and one of the most influential and admired musicians on the scene. His seventh album as a leader, The Remedy, was recorded live at one of jazz's great temples, New York's Village Vanguard, in January 2006. Twenty years have therefore passed, and the album remains a reference point: music full of ideas and original compositions (all by the guitarist himself except for one piece by Mark Turner), unique interaction between the quintet members and solos that have been studied in music schools around the world over these two decades. Now Rosenwinkel and the members of his quintet (the aforementioned Turner, Aaron Goldberg, Joe Martin and Eric Harland) have reunited for the first time to revisit The Remedy and reaffirm its relevance while also exploring new paths. Yes, many of the great figures in jazz history are already gone, but we have contemporaries such as Kurt Rosenwinkel who continue to make some of the finest music in the universe today. Kurt Rosenwinkel, guitar. Seamus Blake, tenor saxophone. Aaron Goldberg, piano. Joe Martin, double bass. Kendrick Scott, drums.
Part of the programme: 58th Barcelona International Jazz Festival. 58è Festival Internacional de Jazz de Barcelona: 48 activities in Barcelona, from September 29 to December 23.
