Lecture: "Clementina Arderiu"
4 November 2026
Museu d'Història de Catalunya, la Barceloneta, Ciutat Vella
This year marks fifty years since the death of Clementina Arderiu, one of the great voices of 20th-century Catalan poetry. Influenced by Catalan folk poetry, her work deals with themes such as everyday life, the inner life and the female condition, with far more complexity than she has been credited with. The partner of fellow poet Carles Riba, her career has often been overshadowed and diminished by her husband's. Now the Clementina Arderiu Year is reclaiming her. To mark the anniversary, Sàpiens and Cementiris de Barcelona are organising a lecture on the poet's life and work. The talk will be given by Maria Callís, curator of the Clementina Arderiu Year, who will help us understand the true depth and sensitivity of her work and explain everything she contributed to Catalan poetry. Activity included in the events commemorating the Clementina Arderiu Year.
