"Living Public Space: Neighbourhood Activism and the Recovery of Street Festivities in Sarrià (1975-1979)" Exhibition

Panel exhibition at the Carmen Amaya gallery in Centre Cívic Sarrià. For the second consecutive year, Centre Cívic Sarrià will host part of an exhibition explaining the recovery of Festa Major de Sarrià at the end of the Franco dictatorship. In 2025, the 50th anniversary of the creation of l'Orquestra Veracruz was celebrated; the orchestra performed several times between 1975 and 1979. In 1975 the dictator was still alive, but young people and neighbourhood organisations in Sarrià wanted to reclaim public space. The main aim was to recover the popular Festa Major, and l'Orquestra Veracruz is one of the symbols of that neighbourhood effort. By Taller d'Història de Sarrià and Premsa Local El Jardí SCCL.
