"Losing Form" Exhibition

This autumn we will host an exhibition by Anna Font moving between collage and drawing. The exhibition brings together drawings begun without any clear intention or direction, allowing chance or instinct to lead them towards a more figurative meaning. In this sense, "Losing Form" is partly literal but also metaphorical: drawing is playing, and playing means setting conventions aside, letting go, taking risks and not seeking the safety of preconceived ideas. The original works in the exhibition respond to this playful, almost instinctive process, in which the abstract gradually finds the forms that seemed lost, with a taste for surprise and the unexpected. Anna Font is an illustrator and children's-book author born in Barcelona. Even as a child she told stories through drawing, perhaps because at home she was always surrounded by pencils, colours, books and other treasures that fired her imagination. She began painting and drawing with Agustí Roca and Núria Balcells. Later she trained at Centre Universitari de Disseny i Art (EINA) and l'Escola de la Dona de Barcelona.
