'Marta Povo. The Poetics of Light' Exhibition

The exhibition presents a comprehensive selection of commissioned and artistic work by Marta Povo Audenis (Barcelona, 1951), a Catalan photographer who in the 1970s and 1980s developed a dazzling and prolific professional career focused on architectural, interior and landscape photography, a field still largely dominated by men at the time, with only a few women standing out, including her. At the same time as her professional work gained increasing recognition, she developed a highly personal artistic body of work. MARTA POVO. THE POETICS OF LIGHT offers an immersion in the visual universe of an artist for whom photography is a form of sensitive and intuitive knowledge. Rather than following a chronological route, the exhibition uses around one hundred original prints to propose a journey through layers of meaning and presence, with images grouped according to visual affinities and aesthetic tensions. Essential to photographic technology, light becomes the central axis of the exhibition, celebrated as a creative principle that surrounds us and invites us to adopt a shared gaze across all the subjects and photographs.
